God of War 3 Review

Hide the woman and children!  Kratos is back with a vengeance.

“The Measure of a man is what he does with Power…”

Plato had it right and in God of War 3 our favorite Spartan is a tall man indeed. Sorry Xbox fans but the true and first GoW is back and better than ever! Sure your little chainsaw guns are cool Marcus and Dom, but your just infants compared to the epic bad-assness that is Kratos- the fallen god of war. Fans of the series will surely cream themselves after a few moments into this modern day Greek epic. However gamers new to the series heed this warning this game is neither child nor girlfriend/wife safe. It contains graphic nudity, and violence. It will also distract you for hours on end.

The main story is only about 11 hours and is very linear. However once you start it is very difficult to stop. The story is amazing; it draws you in and keeps you entertained. The game also introduces you to some of the great icons in Greek mythology, and shows you what the Greek myths were truly like. Not the fluff and stuff ya learned in high-school. For those new to the series it cleanly recaps the previous story-lines so that those starting with this title aren’t as confused. Those new to the series should check out the GoW collection, they aren’t as pretty but just as awesome.

The Game Brings back and improves upon the fantastic game play that made the series great to begin with. The combos are pretty cool and the ability to swiftly switch between weapons makes it that much easier to get yer combos in the triple digits and beyond. The best part in my opinion is that GoW 3 injects some much needed difficulty that has been seriously lacking in many of today’s new titles. The boss battles are classic in nature and very challenging but not so challenging you just want to give up. They manage to keep you hooked in so ya want to keep at it. However if your skill level simply isn’t up to par it will eventually ask you if you wish to take it down to easy so ya don’t have to give up on the game entirely

God of War 3 contains collectibles, challenges, and combat arenas to keep you coming back after you beat the story. The audio and graphics are jaw dropping and are a true testament to how bad ass the Ps3 is compared to other systems. This game is definitely a must have for Ps3 owners who enjoy stunning graphics, entertaining story, gruesome violence, nudity, and either enjoy or don’t mind Greek mythology. Much like The Iliad this game is truly Epic I give it 10 out of 10 severed god heads.
