Video games have made huge strides in the past ten years and while its been a dream of ours, we couldn’t have anticipated 3D gaming to be so close to becoming a reality! The gaming pioneers at Nintendo are bringing the concept to life and sooner than you think.

Nintendo reps made a Tuesday announcement that the DS as we know it will once again be forever changed. Brand new technology will allow the player to experience 3D, minus the crazy glasses!

Reps for Nintendo have called the portable the “3DS”, though we do not know if this is the consoles official name. We do not yet know the functions of the 3DS or how it will actually work, but it’s been said that it WILL be backwards compatible with DS and DSi games! The ever important detail of price and new game titles were among the details left out…

For now Nintendo plans to launch the 3DS April 1, 2010 through March 31, 2011.

The news comes to us just five days before the release of Nintendo’s newest gadget the DSi XL (LL),
I for one will be holding out for the 2011, 3DS!

Nintendo’s left us craving more info, but for now we’ll have to settle for the fantastic 3D announcement.
